Ear lobe repair

Prolonged use of heavy earrings can make your ear holes bigger and elongated. Sometimes you can hide them with your hair but it’s not possible for women and men with short hair. Getting cosmetic earlobe repair can fix this problem for you. For some people it might be just a wish to close old holes which might be torn or misplaced when piercing and get a new hole pierced. Some people might want to change the shape of their earlobes.

Indications for Earlobe Repair:

  • Split earlobe
  • Elongated or stretched earlobe, stretched earlobes from heavy earrings
  • Stretched earlobe due to tribal ear piercing leading to flesh tunnel
  • Candidates who simply want to change the shape of their earlobes
  • Split or torn earlobes due to injury or accidents.

Earlobe Repair Procedure is performed under local anesthesia and  completed in an hour. The earlobe is made numb using local anesthetic via injection. For an ear lobe that is torn, the procedure consists of “freshening” the edges. To achieve this small amount of skin is removed. The split is then sutured to create normal looking earlobe. Another technique used  for earlobe split repair is with rotation flap. This is a type of skin reconstruction in which semicircular skin flap is rotated to cover the split. The advantage of this technique is that patients can safely and conveniently wear earrings two weeks post procedure instead of having to wait up to six months with the standard procedure. The length of this procedure takes between 30 -40 minutes per earlobe. To change the shape of the earlobe, unwanted tissue is removed and the area is sutured to look normal.
